Message from the Honorable Chairman
The Parliament of the Democratic Republic of Sri Lanka established the Pradeshiya Sabha Act No. 15 of 1987 and the Beliatta Pradeshiya Sabha, which was a minor municipal council, was established as a Pradeshiya Sabha in the year 1991 and has been in existence for more than three decades. During that time, there have been both successes and failures in providing services to the 62378 people living in an area of 105 square kilometers in 71 Grama Niladhari Divisions; I sincerely remember all those who sincerely and efficiently contributed to all the successes and achievements that have been achieved.
At a time when we are stepping into a new era of politics and governance, I consider it an honor to address you as the Chairman of the Beliatta Pradeshiya Sabha representing the National People’s Power (NPP). Our vision is built on the core principles of equity, social justice and true public service, and our aim is to make this local government an exemplary institution of excellence.
Although the local government structure has long been distant from the real public it serves, we are committed to changing that situation. Our governance is fully committed to establishing a fully transparent, corruption-free and people-centered local government. Every decision we make and every penny we spend is allocated solely for the welfare of our citizens and the sustainable development of the area.
We believe that true development is not just about developing physical resources, but also about improving the quality of life of everyone, including the marginalized and oppressed people of society. From public health, sanitation and rural road development to empowering our youth and protecting the environment, all our approaches will be community-centered and inclusive.

Here you will have the opportunity to avail of our services, get updated information on regional development projects and submit your ideas and suggestions to us. As we believe that a progressive Pradeshiya Sabha can only be built through the collective strength of the people, I urge you all to actively contribute to governance.
With a clear common vision, let us all come together to create a prosperous, equitable and beautiful region that provides common facilities to all for our future generations.
